This lovely building is Bristol Hall, home of the History Department at King College . It all started in this building.

FLASHBACK

The class was U.S. in the 20th Century: 1945 - present , the professor, Dr. Jeffrey Cole. Dr. Cole developed a wonderful idea to take the brave and adventurous students on a weekend trip to Washington, D.C., to explore our nation's capital. This trip occurred in February of this year. One of the sites visited on the way was the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Upon returning from the excursion, Dr. Cole repeatedly expressed his disgust (no offense to the people at the museum) of the poor content and lay-out found there. Thus, the topic for our first written exercise was born.

Our assignment was to develop an exhibit to be displayed in the Smithsonian. The class divided into groups of three and four (that would be our group, thanks again, Dr. Cole!). The topic was life during the Cold War. Our group chose to develop and exhibit in which we theoretically built and furnished a Levitt House such as one would find in the 1950s. In the Bibliography you will find a complete list of the sources we used, including old catalogs, web-sites, books, and magazines.

The project was not only a challenge, it was extremely fun to do. We hope you enjoy looking at it as much as we enjoyed creating it! Be sure to chech out our grade before you go!
